Firstly, it’s a one time, no repeat, no second chances moment. You get what you get period. I do my best to capture the scenery, the strangers doing their thing, in this case, the birds in the water, capturing genuine reactions while hiding in the bushes is what’s all about.
Secondly, What if my gear breaks down? (Thankfully I always have a backup camera for all of my shoots anyways!) It’s like a photography obstacle course where any mistake could mean missing the shot.
Lastly, there is the emotional part, I am a romantic and witnessing 2 people in love about to embark in a life-time journey is simply, well, How do I put it? A load of feelings! Feelings that make me wanna cry, you know.. that ugly crying that doesn’t happen in the movies, but I just mustn’t, tears and wet cheeks don’t mix well while trying to capture these moments.
In sum, I LOVE IT! It is incredibly rewarding and I am honored to be able to photograph engagement proposals.
